framed, boxed
I've been very much enjoying not intellectualising about what I've been doing since coming back from India. But today I want to stop and look, and see what I see.
Framing. Figures framed within a box.
Narrative scenes within a frame. Multiple frames.
Deliberately stepping out of the frame.
Framing to isolate, separate out.
Containment. Oppression. Confinement.

A new year
I have to admit that my facebook page has somewhat taken over from this site, but that's partly because I have been in a period of transition since my show in September. In January I made another trip to India, this time with a work agenda that incorporated a visit to a number of Hoysala temple sites and a site containing astonishing Jain mural paintings. I will be doing some summarising of what this has done for my work over the next few weeks and attempt some kind of an update. As ever, the facebook page is updated most days.

sand
With less than two weeks to go to my show, I've been practising my sand painting. It's seems a little crazy to be doing this live throughout the show when I've never done it before. But it seems to fit with the theme of Wild Life, I wanted something that was emergent, that I didn't have total control over.
Sometimes I'm amazed and astounded by what come out, but I wonder how my responses will be affected when I'm doing this as a performance...
And two paintings that I've finally finished off...
