Indian Art

The beginning of my stealing.... (3rd August, 2012).

In response to Mark's question, this is the kind of temple that I found this sculpture on in my trip to Karnataka in 2014.

I had been told in my Indian Art History degree that Hoysala sculpture wasn't very refined. I wasn't expecting much, so I got  a big surprise.

    1. That's great! I've always wanted to see them live, but haven't made the trip yet. The spirit of the statues definitely lives on in your wonderful art!

  3. It's the spirit of them, that's the interesting thing. I had no idea how to respond to all this, I just kept looking and waiting. The trip in 2014 and the finding of these sculptures opened it all up.... I realised that I wasn't really interested in the gods (which tended to be very static) but in all the teeming dancing gyrating musical life around them....
